Poem #202

You see someone else in the place that
once belonged to you.
“It doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t hurt,
it doesn’t hurt” you repeat to yourself
but no matter how many times you say
it, you still can’t force yourself to believe it.

When we hold onto pain, it becomes a part of us. Once we learn to let go, we set our hearts free. To do that, we have to confront what hurt us, never try to deny pain or think time will heal it. Just know one thing- all of us are stronger than we think we are. Whatever happens we are equipped to deal with it. It’s a part of growing up.
