Coffee Date with Luna: Staying Sane

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all well, safe and able to stay home. For those of you who have to go to work, I just want you to stay strong, keep the distance as much as you can and follow the safety guidelines.

I am going to be quite honest and say that I am losing my mind a bit. Me and my work crew even have meltdowns about how much we miss each other. I just catch myself thinking about having a coffee in a bar with my friends, walking around, even riding in a tram which is always overly crowded.

Today I just want to speak about the ways I have been keeping the little sanity I have left. My first two rules are home workouts and meditation. Home workouts really help me to let go of stress and anxiety. They are not much, but 30-45 minutes does the trick. I always try not to go more than three days without working out. Meditation helps me deal with the thoughts in my head and there are many. I know that people think that meditation is about clearing your mind and not thinking about anything, but for me is just letting the thoughts flow and letting them go.

I have also been reading. I went to the STIR UP coworking place where I work as a community manager and got myself some books which we have there. I read Steve Jobs biography and a book about Ikigai. I also have some pdf books I downloaded but the problem is I spend a lot of time in front of my laptop so it gets exhausting reading on it as well.

I have been very blessed to have the opportunity to work from home at this difficult time. I do miss being at my job, being with my work crew but whenever I get these negative thoughts, I just keep on repeating that this too will pass. It’s kind of my mantra now.

I know that this coffee date has been me rambling about my very boring life, but I think we can all use some tips on keeping sane during this quarantine. Let me and the rest know in the comments below how are you dealing with everything!

Sending love and positive vibes,
Luna

  1. Hey Luna, I loved your post!
My quarantine is going great as I love being with myself and trying to make new recipes.

    1. Hi! Great to hear you are enjoying yourself with your hobby. I would actually like to use this time to get obtain some cooking skills because the only thing I know how to do in the kitchen is eat 😂
      Stay stafe!

      1. Hahaha.. Happy Quarantine cooking.

  2. Thank you so much for this thoughtful post! I’m actually enjoying this time being “stuck” at home. I haven’t gone all cabin-fever yet because I see it as a much needed break from work and social stresses. Those were the things making me crazy. Daily pressures from commuting to a job I don’t like with people who thrive on drama… Social pressures of trying to keep friends happy and sated while on a thin budget (all those social meet-ups add up!)…

This is my break. This is my “me time,” time to revisit my journal, my cats’ purrs, and what it feels like to sleep in. I’m still working from home however my stress levels have dropped dramatically so there’s one thing to be thankful for!

Be well and stay safe and sane!

    1. I am so glad to hear your stress levels are lower since it does benefit your immune system which is more important now than ever. We see eye to eye with the commuting to work part, I actually realized I have gained so much time since I started working from home. It gives me time to enjoy some other hobbies of mine.
      Stay stafe! <3

  3. I’m positive that your mantra is a good one. Mine is borrowed from the civil rights movement in the U.S. many years ago: “Keep the faith, baby.”

    1. Mantras and good music keep me going. It’s important to have a positive outlook now and in the days to come once we get out of this pandemic. Stay safe <3

  4. I’m an online teacher and so this was my normal. I already knew about sticking to a schedule and exercising for sanity. What I have to adjust to is my family being here all the time. Just now my husband walked into the room and said What are you doing? and nothing is wrong with that question except that it happens ten times a day now.
Thankfully I have an office and the door closes. I joined a reading and a writing challenge.
This week my daughter and I met in Zoom to work on our sewing projects and I am meeting my sister today for the same thing. I love my husband ❤️ but truly do miss the women in my life.
    Stay safe and well!!

    1. Very glad to hear you can stay safe and work from home! I have been missing my baby nephew during this time because we limited our family time to protect each other, so I understand that it can be hard but once we get through this all of those small family moment will mean so much more. Stay safe <3

      1. So true. You stay safe as well.

  5. Well interesting post. Stay home stay safe

    1. Thank you, you too <3

  6. Nice message, Luna.
    Keep up the positivity.

    1. We need it now more than ever. Stay safe <3

  7. Thanks for keeping the conversation going. I think that is the most important thing as we are all in our own spaces, especially those by themselves. We need to reach out as much as we can to make sure everyone hangs in there. It seems being forced to be apart is helping us reevaluate what is really important to us in our lives.

    1. This pandemic is causing a lot of pain, fear and anger but we are also getting important life lessons from this. I know technology is helping us reach out easier, talk with our families but it’s not the same thing as having a face to face conversation and being able to hug someone. We will all appreciate those small life moment more once we are free of this pandemic and life goes back to normal. Stay safe <3

  8. Great read, Luna! Thank You.

    1. You are welcome! Stay safe <3

  9. It’s actually a great period for discovering oneself like hobbies and trying new stuff! And It’s okay ramble as much as your heart desires, we are here for each other 💪 Stay safe and strong and don’t think much, the train of life is still going … 🙈🌹

    1. Thank you <3
I have been focusing a lot lately on fitness, reading and getting healthier both mentally and physically. I think we should all ramble on and let all of the feelings out, rely on each other now more than ever. We are all in this together. Stay safe <3

  10. Spending the whole time with lots of patience, focus, music, vitamins, and creativity. If any nice poetry comes up I send it to poetry bar. 🙂

    1. I am glad to hear this, especially the last part 😉
      Stay safe <3

      1. Yes thanks for inspiring us to write. 🙂

  11. I’m trying my best to see the positive things of staying at home. For instance I did a lot of things I wanted to do for ages but never found the time to. I repotted my plants, rearranged my bookshelves, cleaned my flat, let my inner gourmet out by cooking delicious meals and I read a lot. Plus I’m spending a lot of time with my kid and even though it’s not always easy it’s still great to be able to play so much with her. 🙂 I think in some way this time is teaching us to appreciate the simple things in life. XD

    1. It is so nice to hear you have been using this time to your advantage. I know it can get hard to be with kids, especially if they are little, because my sister has a 4 year old but I know how precious and amazing those moments can be. Stay safe (and send some of those delicious gourmet meals to Croatia, I am always hungry) <3

  12. Hey Luna, thank you for this thoughtful post loved your blog and would glad if you could review some of my posts. Stay safe and positive.

    1. Thank you very much. Stay safe <3

  13. More power to you.!

  14. “This too will pass”…has been my mantra for a long, long time!
Glad you’re doing well, able to exercise and meditate…
    Stay safe 🙂

  15. Hey Luna, thanks for sharing this. I’m sure we’re all going a little stir-crazy but it’s nice to know we’re not alone at being alone.

Meditation is definitely one of centers; it’s so easy to get depressed in times like this, which only makes me concerned for veterans struggling with mental & spiritual health. Meditation is spiritual therapy and a bestowing of understanding.

I live in Oklahoma city and medical marijuana is legal here. So, I smoke a blunt to not only help me ease my mind but the strain I use helps me focus & create. This is important because a ton of my inspiration for #poetry , #photography, and other art stems from being able to adventure and explore new/old things.

Hopefully we can all keep our heads up and put this behind us!

  16. Enjoyed your blog and my renewed blogging commitment is how i stay sane. Sort of!

  17. Thank you for sharing your tips on what is working for you during this strange time. You mentioned two activities that have also sustained me – reading and meditating. Now they do more than sustain, they are quite possibly keeping me sane, along with writing, of course. I am blessed with a backyard sanctuary where I can step out, get some fresh air, and meditate under a tree. That is where peace is found. ✌️ Be well. Thank you for stopping by my site. 😊

  18. Hi Luna i’ve been doing daily walks and home workouts every day and i’ve been working on my website and social media channels most days.
