On The Dark Side Of Life

Most people don’t walk in the shadows
But under the artificial rays of the lights outside
Cold indifference feels normal when joy dies
You are breathing in pain and exhaling love
As the world picks off pieces of your soul
Each vein carrying blood becomes prickly with ice
Every fragment draining the color from your heart
Night runs into the day as you close the curtains
Hoping that the emptiness will take you in your sleep
Instead of facing another day filled with nothing but
Shadows erasing each smile that you have ever had
Life becomes hellish when your mind is stuck in one place
Dragging you under like sand in a large timer
Daring you to fall completely into its gaping and lightless abyss.
