Poem #68

I hated her for so long.
I blamed her for taking the place
that once belonged to me.
I should have been thanking her.

Without knowing it, she saved me
from being devoured by the black
hole beating in your chest.
She threw down the rope and
I grabbed it but she fell into the pit.

I should raise a statue in her honor
because she made life without
feeling like I’m not worthy of love
available to me. She gave me the
clarity I needed but she lost her’s.

I should thank her. Maybe another
one comes in line and saves her
the way she saved me from his
deadly jaws.
