There are no smiles or echoes here
Absorbent poison cacophony fills all ears
But there are canopy-blind eyes seeking
Waiting mouths of constant hungering
Pits and traps holding their pungy breaths
With all their hidden deadly intents
We try to stop noticing our nagging fears
We walk, we wade, we crawl through death
Constant touching by its hot wet flaccid fingers
Green and clinging, tugging at our worn souls
Step after step never seeing below the waist
Wondering what that is that wanders
Up your legs, inside your clothes
My name is Von Smith, I have written nearly 4,000 haiku this year. My website is: https://2thinkis2be.wordpress.com/ Above the Noise. I also write other forms of poetry, short stories, and have two work-in-progress novels. My love is my wife; my view is prosaic; I like to read and to binge (the gerund of binge could be binging, but that is too close to Bing ing quality series, and watching engaging movies.
