Carpe Diem

You said you cared for me, but that was a lie
Was I winter, when you were envisioning summer?
I hope you enjoyed your malicious plunder
Was it all a ploy, being my “friend”
Was it worth losing me in the end?
Must be, because you’re unaffected
I’m glad I could be your person, my heart you dissected
I hope out of all of this, you got what you needed
Still questioning how I could allow myself to be this mistreated?
I marveled you and our friendship
I was lost, day dreaming in a different dimension
How hard was it to give a shred of attention?
I guess that’s what you do, love em and leave em
Farewell and so long,
Carpe diem

  1. I really loved the way you articulated your thoughts and the way made them flow with a consistent rhyme. Thank you for sharing such a delightful post. According to your convenience please do read some of my writings would love to know what you think about them. 🙂

  2. I know this exactly. I was left behind without hope or a clue. Over all these years, I still miss Us and sometimes wish I had the guts to ask. But I’ve also always trusted her word. When she said “done” I believed her, and always will.

  3. I hope that the narrator of the poem was able to move on. Sometimes the best way to combat heartbreak is to take another chance. Hopefully, that roll of the dice will lead you to your soulmate.
