Uncertain and unsteady
Versatile and vagrant
All the adjectives I could find
To describe a home that is never a destination
–
Not two parents nodding at you
Nor a lover holding your hands
A home that is not a house
A shipwreck in a troubled sea
–
What if home is the in-between
The almost there, but not quite?
If you ask me what a home is
I would point to the churning waves
–
The fearsome realization
In the eyes of a sailor
When he knows, for certain
That this is all there ever was
–
This vexed ocean
His palms clutching
These waters his treasure
This illusion his home”

What is a home and what do we want for a home? An interesting subject and I like the sailor reference at the end. I partly identify with the sailor since for me home is simply where you are at any time, so I have had homes both sides of the Pond but have retired to enjoy one side 🙂 🙂
A good read. Keep it up
Beautiful, the words really tugged on the heartstrings.
