Rose Petal Tea

This night keeps me awake,
Just so I can think of you.
Why can’t I sleep, for God’s sake?
Why can’t I live without you?

The overwhelming moon left me
Intoxicated in a trance.
My eyes were lost to thee,
Wondering who’s game of chance.

Who’s poison was this mixed in
The sweet red petals in tea?
The warm air, now cold it had been,
The figure of my own breath blinding me.

In the cold, my hands began to shake,
Suddenly, abruptly, peace was brought.
I opened my eyes for a look to take,
Left within your eyes, I was caught.

Salaam, I’m Aman Misbah and I’m an 18-year old writer. I’m well inspired by Urdu greats like Mir Taqi Mir and Faiz Ahmed Faiz as well as American poets like Emily Dickinson or Edgar Allen Poe. You can see some other works of mine at urduahsaas.wordpress.com
