I like my friend, he’s pretty cool
He always got top marks at school
He makes me laugh until I cry
He asks me what I think and why
I like my friend, he’s pretty kind
He likes to know what’s on my mind
He helps me out when things go wrong
One night he wrote for me a song
I like my friend, he’s always there
He calls me out when I am unfair
I often feel like I a big old prat
Because I love my friend and that is that.
My name is Evie H. I am from Northern Ireland, and I am an unpublished poet. I write poetry to try to process the complicated nature of life. I try to use humour in poetry because I often find if you are not laughing about life, you are crying. I love a broad range of poets but particularly Pam Ayres and John Cooper Clarke.
