Poem #333

I can hurt you.
You’ve given me a weapon
when you underestimated me.
I can sneak up on you,
catch you off guard,
come at you at night
and spill blood.

I can hurt you.
You will never see me coming
because you do not see me at all.
I am a pawn in your game,
a chess piece you think you manipulate
but my edges are covered in arsenic
Poison is a female thing,
you kill yourself every time you take a piece of me.

I can hurt you.
I listened when you thought you covered my ears,
I learned your secrets
I know what makes you tick.
I know how to strike a nerve,
put you on the edge of insanity
I want to stand over your corpse
just for the fun of it.

The poem is inspired by a character from a book I have been working on called “Little Rebellion” and I hope I will be able to share it with all of you one dayFor now, you can still enjoy my published poetry book Rehab
