On Social Media

Daily writing prompt
How do you use social media?

I think that my best answer to this one is “I don’t”.

When I compare my first dive into social media back when I was a teenager and social media was much more easier, relaxed and closer to it’s original message than now, everything was a good picture, everything had to be on Instagram, we posted stuff just for the fun of it where as now it’s not fun anymore. I even remember writing on my friends’ facebook walls about shit that happened in school.

I sound like I’m a 100 years old, I know, but it makes sense to me personally. I used to use Instagram constantly, I would sometimes post daily and now I only use IG if I am going on a trip to share some stories and pictures and that is it. I don’t remember what Facebook is, I never used Twitter much and I have an on again, off again relationship with Tik Tok because it messes with my attention timespan.

What I will say that I like about social media is getting recipes from it. A lot of the recipes I try on my YT channel are from Instagram Reels and my saved posts on IG are literally food, cute dogs and Luan Santana (he’s my favorite singer).

I recently took up Tik Tok again. At first it was just a way to promote Little Rebellion so I made an account for it which is @littlerebellion and then I decided to also start a personal account from scratch for my blog which is @luna.theblog (of course it is). Even trying to start with a new social media page, I am lazy to post, but feel free to follow me. I might figure this social media thing again and get back to posting on it

What’s your favorite social media?

Love,
Luna

Don’t forget that my first novel is available on Amazon: Little Rebellion
Also you can get my poetry books: Rehab and Identity crisis

  1. I totally know what you mean. I first got an Instagram account back in the era you’re talking about, when it was just fun and we were all figuring it out. Before everybody turned into a personal brand. I remember when the timeline was in chronological order and you couldn’t post videos longer than 60 seconds. I reminisce those days, but I try to find ways to make social media fun and comfortable to use too 🙂

  2. I don’t SM anymore, i blog i follow some YouTubers

  3. Social media is now full of trash and nonsense things.

  4. Interesting that you’re so much younger than me and have little time for social media. I never wanted to go there, until I published my first book, and then it was necessary as for self-published authors like me it’s the only way to get your work out there and seen. Aside from marketing my books I’ve gotten involved to some extent, as it’s necessary to form connections. I’m not and never will be one of those people who posts everything that happens in their day, from breakfast to bedtime, though. I’ve made a few good friends, which is a bonus, but for me it’s a necessary evil. 🙁

  5. I use social media like alcohol.. its a drug i’d like to put down but it seems to always call me back for one more ..

  6. The more I use social media, the less I like it. For me personally, it’s a great way of connecting with people but it can be a real disappointment sometimes.

  7. It’s a necessary evil for a writer, but I’m not particularly good at it. It also seems to be fading as far as finding your people is concerned. It’s flooded with nonsense and propaganda these days. I will say the online author community is great, but it’s getting harder to find them.

  8. Well, isn’t WordPress ‘Social Media’ by definition? But, your point is right on, thanks for sharing.
