I feel like happiness is hidden
right in the depth of the sea
but I am such a lousy swimmer and
I have to dive out every now and then
just to catch some air.
That filthy air suffocates me, the
same air we all consume. It’s pressing
my lungs closer to my spine,
twisting my body in order to make
me fit in with the crowd. Maybe I
feel it killing me because I was meant
to stand out.
I just need that pearl hidden in the
depth of the sea. I need to hold my
breath and be resilient to the pain
to reach the bottom of this.
Sometimes before we can find the pearls we need to find the diving suit and before diving suit we need something to keep us warm underneath.
Beautiful composition though.
I love your comment, so simple but so beautiful ❤
This was a great read, goes for all of us, we all have to suffocate a bit or a lot until we find that pearl meant for each of us. Very well written I should add.
Thank you very much 😊
Your poem reminds me of a story I heard on Monday, at my dream interpretation class. It is an Inuit story of the blind boy and the loon. Your metaphor of diving for the pearl in the sea is a great one.
I’ll make sure to google the story 😊
You’re right! Its all hidden in depths of misunderstandings. Few dare to risk themselves for- everything. You must surrender your search, breath and craving expectations. Ignore the schools of fish pontificating- as if they have all the answers. Even sharks know better than to listen. Allow yourself to drown, your lungs, your soul and to settle at the dark bottom. It is there- where you become all those answer- hidden as a rare pearl…found. : ))
Thank you for your beautiful comment 😀
Wish I was a talented enough wordsmith to find words to praise this piece… but alas I’m not! I’ll just say that the thought was just beautiful and the way you expressed it was poignant and truly…. touching
Especially liked this line:
” Maybe I
feel it killing me because I was meant
to stand out.” Hope you find your “pearl to happiness” in real life too… kudos, and keep writing
Thank you very much for your comment 😀
I guess it’s your style of presentation, but have you considered naming your poetry?
I mean they are so beautiful and giving them their individual identity would only enhance the effect they have on your readers… Anyways, I love your poetry… Hope to read more soon 🙂
I used to give them names but sometimes I just can’t come up with one so I started numbering them. Thanks for the advice 😁
You’re welcome 😅
Love the poem, amazing as always. Bit sad, but beautiful. Just thought you should be aware, there is a typo with the word lungs 🙂
Thank you very much 😊
As for the typo, oooopsie, I fixed it
Only a few weeks ago, I was in a spot where the Aegean met the Mediterranean. I saw a whole host of fish and crustaceans. I also spotted a mermaids purse swimming past the hull of the boat….she must have dropped it.
So beautiful ❤
