It smelled liked rain
On a summer day
in scorching heat
when the sun became the enemy
early in the morning it smelled like rain
I didn’t want to leave,
I didn’t want to walk down those steps
I wanted to stay and hide,
shut the drapes
listen to the wind rustle the leaves.
Halfway down my path it caught up with me
The drops came down heavy
Changing my dress to dark blue
The city became cold
It smelled like a storm
