Describe an item you were incredibly attached to as a youth. What became of it?
I did not have an item I was incredibly attached to as a youth because I was a hoarder so it was hard to pick just one thing to like more than all the other things I just couldn’t throw away because “I might need it one day”.
Luckily, this problem has diminished with years, especially since I started to live on my own in rented apartments, but it was a really big problem. To be quite honest, I haven’t gotten rid of a lot of my stuff from my hoarding days, they are just somewhere in my sister’s house.
But there are things that I kept, not because I was incredibly attached to them but because they have some meaning to me. For example, there was this dress that I wore in high school when going out that is way to small for me now but I cannot throw it away. I also have a scrapbook from my high school days that I will never get rid off. It has some of my fondest memories of my teenage years. There are also some notebooks with my writing in it, old diaries etc. At the end of the day, the things I kept and refuse to ever get rid off are inexpensive but emotionally valuable.
As a child, I know that I was obsessed with a little colorful blanket I had, but to be quite honest, I have no idea where it is today.
As an adult, I don’t have a thing that I am attached to because I have been on this journey trying to not give a lot of importance to material stuff but my need to preserve things of emotional value is still strong.
Don’t forget that my first novel is available on Amazon: Little Rebellion
Also you can get my poetry books: Rehab and Identity crisis
A little embarrassing for rme but I still have my childhood blankie stored in a bin in my closet. I hope to one day give it to my children…. but I might not.
That is absolutely not embarrassing, it’s so cute and heartwarming ❤️
