Think back on your most memorable road trip.
It is very much impossible for me to have memorable road trips because I, a 28 year old woman, suffer from motion sickness like a small child. It’s hell, 0/10, would not recommend to my worse enemy.
Usually, me getting into a car for a prolonged period of time comes with a well elaborated plan. I have to eat way earlier so I don’t go into the car right after I ate. I need to take my pill 30 minutes before the drive and most importantly no moving in the car, no reading, no screens and people around me (most often my boyfriend) cannot consume food that has a strong smell and there cannot be a car air freshener in the car because it makes me sick. Once all the boxes are checked, we cross our fingers and pray there won’t be many road curves and that I fall asleep as soon as possible.
So, no memorable road trips for me. I actually sleep through them most often or just sit there like a mummy without moving a muscle because somehow that helps me to not get sick. I don’t know why this horrible thing returned to my life and I say returned because it actually went away for a period. I used to get motion sickness as a kid always, to the point where the carried me out of the car once and I vomited a few times, but then it all stopped. I used to travel for 3-4 hours from Zadar to Zagreb when I was a student going on break and I wouldn’t need pills and I would never get sick. It was a wonderful time in my life that has ended a few years back when the motion sickness came back.
I do love to travel, but if I could pick my mode of transportation, I would pick a train or a plane which often isn’t an option.
Love,
Luna
