Weekend pancakes

Good morning guys and happy weekend!

Today is my work Saturday but I woke up feeling all types of happy for no apparent reason. I was also inspired to make this fitness friendly Saturday breakfast which includes pancakes.

I already told you that I am struggling to stay healthy and active during quarantine and I successfully turned it into my daily habit. I don’t skip my workouts and I try to eat a healthy and balanced diet. It is really paying off since I have been feeling much better and am able to cope with this current situation with a positive attitude.

My shift starts at noon and after that I will be resting and tomorrow I am going over to my sisters where we are celebrating Mother’s day. I can’t wait for my nephew to give me a proper workout because that child never stops. He is super active and is always running around. The last time I spent the morning with him my tights were killing me because he made me jump with him for hours on his trampoline. Yes, he has a trampoline (long story).

I am really happy about Croatia slowly going out of quarantine. Our bars and restaurants are being opened starting 11/5/ and there are less restrictions. We already know this will probably cause a new surge in the number of ill people, but I think that we will get through this fine because we became much more careful. I just hope people will still practice social distancing and keep themselves safe.

How is the situation in your country and what are your plans for the weekend?

I fell down.

I fell today. Not in a methaporical way. I seriously fell down in public during rush hour on a train station.

Let me walk you through my amazing morning. So, I came to Zagreb and I was going down the stairs to get some lunch for today. You can bet you ass I was on my phone while walking. I missed a step and in a matter of seconds I just felt pain in my knees and ankle as I hit the ground.

Jackie Chan has got nothing on the reflexes I discovered I had in that moment. In 0.5 seconds I just bounced right back and continued walking as if nothing happened. I actually started believing that I didn’t actually fall down because everything happened so fast but then the pain in my knees and ankle reminded me of my little encounter with the ground.

Please will someone tell me that if you fall down like an idiot in public it means you will have a really good day or that something good will happen? Give me some hope because my day so far has had a shitty start.

At least I have my coffee. Considering my luck I will probably spill it on myself. And the Kinder Bueno is here to comfort me because well… I need it.

Positivity Press #35

Steve and I were on a project of demolishing a kitchen for remodeling. As Steve sets up the ladder to tear out some wood beams from the ceiling, he steps up on the ladder two steps. He then reaches over with one of his legs, to the edge of the dishwasher that was exposed when the lower cabinets were ripped out. The tip of his foot has reached the dishwasher and he is now suspended by both the ladder and the edge of the dishwasher. He proceeds to remove the wood. After completing the task at hand Steve begins to shift his weight back to the ladder and it gives way.

                I am just a quick hop away from this as I am witnessing the collapse. In a single almost instantaneous moment, I quickly move to his side and catch his fall. Placing my right arm onto his waist and the left one on his back for even more support, I prevent Steve from falling onto the dishwasher. It was just a three-foot drop, but Steve is in his mid-sixties and I was certain the injury was going to be painful.  The action was fast, smooth, and the landing was soft. Steve was extremely grateful. He was saved from injury, by my hands.

Hello world!

I know it’s Monday and that generally people don’t like this day but think of it as a start of a new, productive week in which you are going to accomplish a lot! Now for you, who are like me and are half asleep at their job and for the rest of you here are some pics of breakfasts. Oh, the days I actually had time and energy to do such a breakfast in the morning. I hope you like it and that they give you inspiration to start you days with some yummy food.

The wind is carrying the leaves and
their rustle sounds like the sound you
would make when I would gently kiss
your back and wrap myself around you
under the blanket early in the morning.

Autumn is bringing back memories,
evoking some old sounds and feelings.
It reminds me of our love which fell to
the ground like leaves we stepped on with
our stupid prides.

Poem #8

As my mind started waking up, before
the morning chill I felt your heartbeats
against my right cheek and your fingers
playing with my hair, caressing my face.
Gently you placed my head off your chest on
to the bed and got up to let some air in.

The light reflected off your skin, it was the
most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen.
You came close to my head
and said with a grin on your lips: “Good
morning beautiful, can I get a kiss?”
I smiled thinking you can get whatever you want
for the rest of your life as long as you keep me yours.

Caramelized banana oatmeal

Good morning! I don’t know what time it is in your country (tell me in the comments) but here in Croatia it’s 10:20 in the morning and I’ve been up since 8. Decided to take a morning walk to clear out my head and run some errands and now I’m enjoying my delicious, sweet breakfast.

I wrote in my post Grateful that I’m a big breakfast enthusiast so I decided to share one of my favorite and very easy breakfast recipe. This is my caramelized banana oatmeal.

All you need is some oatmeal, a banana, honey, salt, coconut oil and cinnamon. You cook your oatmeal on the side and you heat up a pan. Place the coconut oil, honey, salt and cinnamon on to the pan and when everything is nice and melted place your banana slices there. Turn them once to get some caramel on the other side as well. When you place everything into the bowl add some more cinnamon or flax seed, as you wish and enjoy your breakfast!

In my version there is also a large cup of black coffee waiting for me because I have so much studying to do today. I was a bit disappointed yesterday because I found out I failed an exam. It was actually translating a text from Croatian to Spanish and I honestly thought I did a good job, but no. I failed. It’s not the end of the world because I have the right to take the exams four more times so I’m going to study really hard to pass it.

Organization and morning routine

Sleepy is the word to describe me today. I’ve been having trobules sleeping because I spend a lot of time in the evening in front of my laptop studying or writing that I can’t fall asleep and in the morning I’m just a mess. I managed to crawl out of bed today an hour and a half before I had to leave the house to go to my lecture. I woke up at 6:15 because I had a morning lecture and despite feeling miserable for not being able to keep my eyes open it feels great to see I’ve checked off everything off of my to-do list.

Again, I’m still working on getting myself out of my dark place so I decided to establish a healthy morning routine to get me in a good mood. I kick off my day with some morning stretches. Afterwards I make my breakfast which mostly consists of oat meal and a strong coffee. I do all of this with some good background music. Since I study Spanish I’m pretty crazy about the music from Latin America and my morning playlist currently contains singers like Maluma, Ozuna, Gente de Zona, JBalvin…

When I’m done with breakfast I get dressed and then I meditate for approximately 15 minutes. Today I used Vishen Lakhiani’s 6 phase meditation. Then I walked to my university for 40 minutes to get some LISS workout in my morning and I was done.

Organization is right now my way of keeping myself reassured that I have some control over my life. I’ve downloaded an app to my laptop and my phone where I write my to-do list, shopping plans, simple errands etc. It just feels amazing to see that I’ve checked everything off of my to-do list before going to bed. I’m exhausted but it still feels great and I honestly think I will be able to pull myself out of this by just making simple steps.

Writing everything here makes me feel better and I hope I’m not bumming you all out and being boring. As soon as I write a poem or have some other idea, I’ll post it up immediately!
