#397 Empty dawn

The lights from the street found their way
into our room through the blinds
They broke the darkness apart and let me eyes
soak in the stillness of your body.

One hand under the pillow, another over my waist
A playful strand of hair stuck out by your ear
I ran my fingers down your arm, tracing with my nails
the veins and the bones

The pattern of the blinds cut across your body
it made some parts look weirdly hollow
I fell asleep peacefully, protected by your presence
A world all our own behind closed doors.

Reality burned my skin with the first rays of sun
You were gone before dawn.
