Poem #89

In the end, being soulmates wasn’t
enough for the universe to let us keep each other.

Our road split, our hearts crumbled,
our words were left stuck on our lips.
It was more important to kiss than
say how unfair life can be.

You will find someone, so will I.
We will settle down, have a fresh start
but in the night we will still feel our
fingers intertwined, your body on mine.
The fresh start will never be able to break
some old, dusty bonds.

  1. Wow, sometimes some may never start, some may start again and again, life is odd and funny😂😜

  2. And so the a dead clock is right twice a day and so is love that kindles itself no matter how far lovers are their hearts knit from time to time.

  3. This is beautiful. It makes me think of the notebook, and a letter Noah gave to Allie;

““The reason it hurts so much to separate is because our souls are connected. Maybe they always have been and will be. Maybe we’ve lived a thousand lives before this one and in each of them we’ve found each other. And maybe each time, we’ve been forced apart for the same reasons. That means that this goodbye is both a good-bye for the past ten thousand years and a prelude to what will come.

When I look at you, I see your beauty and grace and know they have grown stronger with every life you have lived. And I know I have spent every life before this one searching for you. Not someone like you, but you, for your soul and mine must always come together. And then, for a reason neither of us understands, we’ve been forced to say good-bye.

I would love to tell you that everything will work out for us, and I promise to do all I can to make sure it does. But if we never meet again and this is truly good-bye, I know we will see each other again in another life. We will find each other again, and maybe the stars will have changed, and we will not only love each other in that time, but for all the times we’ve had before.”

Sorry to have made you read so much.

    1. Actually, thank you for posting this. I didn’t even make the connection to the film

      1. It actually wasn’t in the movie. It was in the novel, so that would be why lol

      2. Oooooh, thank you for the clarification!

  4. The longing for what WAS but what ISN’T

  5. I love the first stanza in this so much. That love is larger than just two people.
