I am having A WEEK!

I am really having A WEEK! It has to be capitalized so you know that I am shouting in my head as I am writing this.

There was a nice little plan starting the weekend that my mom would go on Saturday to my grandma and on Sunday as she was going back home and passing through Zagreb I was supposed to join her and go home with her so we can spend some time together. Well the only place my mom went to on Saturday was the emergency room.

Her kidney and liver problems are back. She is doing way better now, the antibiotics did their part but it was scary at first because we all thought that she might have caught Covid which would put my whole family in isolation and luckily the test was negative but knowing that it’s her kidneys again is not making it easier. The last time she had these issues, she almost died, for a while doctors thought she had cancer and she spent a lot of time in a hospital. I was so unstable because of everything that was happening to her then that I actually had a full-blown panic attack in the middle of a tram in Zagreb as I was going home from work. This time we are all doing much better, but it’s still scary.

I came back early on Sunday to be with her so she wouldn’t be alone and it’s always so hard to see her weak and in pain but she is doing so much better now. Yesterday was the first day she did not have a fever and as soon as everything is cleared up and she is perfectly healthy we are taking her to a private clinic for some much needed checkups.

My way of keeping her spirits up was to cook for her. She would always make fun of me for not knowing how to cook so this week I made lunch every day and even though it was my gluten-free, egg-free, dairy-free meals, she liked it. I got some skills. I made my veggies/chicken risotto for her, my pasta with meatballs, my oven potatoes and today I am making her banana bread.

Food brings joy!

That was pretty much my whole week and will be the rest of my week. Work, cook, workout, sleep. But at least, I manage to get some writing done! How are you all doing?

Love,
Luna

  2. Best wishes Luna, It’s tough when Mum needs help – we are so used to them helping us. 💜

  3. Sister, your week is my life, in every facet. I live, breathe, move and have my being simply to take care of my wife, to the best of my ability and I am thankful to be able to do so. So, be encouraged that things have been up and down for you and your precious mom. Some lives plateau in such a place where we wish they had never been. But that is the thing about life. Right in the middle of the word is IF and if keeps hope alive, as you weather the storms that it brings. Be strengthened in what you do well, and that is sufficient to help you get through whatever the day may bring.
