I gave you permission
You reached into my interior mess
prised apart the tangle
of my insides
I gave you permission
to dissect my soul
to separate organ
strand by strand
You found the parasite
deep in the bowels
of my innermost parts
I gave you permission
to open me wide
to expose the secrets
that within me hide
You cut me free
from that hollow death
allowed me to breathe
I gave you permission
to save my life
to penetrate the depths
of hidden cancer
You scooped the cradle
of creativity from within;
you made me barren
I gave you permission
to sift through
to penetrate visceral shields
to touch the seat of emotion
You reconnected me
fastened vessel to vessel
left me with an eight inch scar
I gave you permission
to perform the necessary violation
I gave up the potential for life
in order to live
You saved me.
