The Winter Snowflake

It fell through the sky
drifted in the air
a fallen angel, I thought
its wings spread wide,
I saw it flying
beauty at its best.

I lifted my hand,thought I’d catch it
it came nearer, falling and falling
but I pulled my hand away
and let it go down
Who am I to break its
perfect flight, anyway?

So I watched it fall
and fall and fall
to the earth
I watched it melt and disappear,
the winter snowflake.
