Poem #359

I was thrown down to the layer
that lies below rock bottom.
On my hands and knees
I crawled up
looking at the moon
who was my guide
I reached the top
covered in filth and blood

With every scratch something
was taken away from me
With every tear and blood drop
I had to sacrifice a part of me

Now I am here
on this cold surface
I can feel the wind on my skin
The rain will wash me
but looking at what’s left
I wonder
Was it worth crawling out of there?
