Live to a 100

What are your thoughts on the concept of living a very long life?

I would like to live a very long life and I think that there’s potential for me to do that because for some reason, people in my family just don’t feel like going anywhere. We are here for a long time and trying our best to make it a good time.

My grandma, who I adore, has celebrated her 90th birthday last year and that woman has gone through a whole war and Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She was never supposed to live long enough to meet me, the doctors gave her very small chances of surviving and she was like “Watch this!”

My father, who I do not adore as much, has also had several life threatening situations due to him being dead drunk and he also ended up in the hospital coughing up his lung and the doctors also said he wouldn’t make it because sepsis would get to him but not only did he not get sepsis, he resumed smoking three days after being released from the intensive unit.

If this resilience is genetic, I will also be here for a long time. Although, to be quite honest, my health was never the best but I built it up, along with my immune system, in the last few years.

I would like to live a long life, but that comes with some asterisks. The life I would like is a fulfilled life, not just a long life. I am a person who finds fulfillment in some little things, for example I decided that this year I will learn to make bread and get really good at it and yesterday I made my first loaf after failing a few times and I was really happy with myself, but I also have some high hopes for my life and I hope I will see them accomplished from traveling the world to becoming at least a part-time author. I would also like to have a publishing house one day. Some of my smaller life fulfillment goals are getting my own apartment and one day being able to retire somewhere near the sea (if my generation gets to retire). I think I would love to live for a long time because my to-do life list is very, very long.

Love,
Luna

Don’t forget that my first novel is available on Amazon: Little Rebellion

  1. I have also wanted to learn how to make bread. I always remember coming home from school and my grandma having a freshly made loaf for us to eat. There is nothing better than fresh bread and butter!

    1. I absolutely agree, I would also like to add jam to the equation 😊

  2. Good for you. It sounds like you are on the right track to achieve your goals and live a long and healthy life. I would like to live to 100, so long as I was independent and healthy. My grandma who didn’t know what healthy food or cooking was lived to be 88. I hope I surpass that healthily.

I recommend reading Dr. David Sinclair’s book, Lifespan. He claims that the person who will live to 150 has already been born. It might be you.

I love fresh bread and enjoy baking it, but I prefer the “no knead” type. I have found simple three ingredient recipes that turn out great rustic looking loaves. Soda breads don’t require kneading either. Good luck. Happy baking, happy living and happy New Year!

    1. Thank you for the advice on the book and bread, will definitely explore both 😊
