You get some great, amazingly fantastic news. What’s the first thing you do?
If I get some great, amazing, fantastic news, I will call my mom to tell her. That’s also my first step when I get some horrible news. Whenever something happens, the general rule of thumb in my life is to call my mom.
After her my boyfriend and friends are next. I have this habit of calling her about everything because we simply developed that type of a relationship with years. She is basically my only parent and, while she was strict in some ways, because of the circumstances she had to raise me and my sister in, she also put herself in the position of our friend and now that we are older she embraced that role more since she doesn’t have to raise us anymore.
People sometimes look at me strange when I tell them I speak to my mom every single day. We always have a call during the day and if not, I usually send her a message to check in because she always worries that something might happen to me. After everything she went through with my father and always being scared that he is going to do something to my sister and me, she remained a bit of a helicopter parent when it comes to our safety.
Even when I was studying in Zadar, more that 300km from home, if I was going out with my friends I would send her a message saying when I left and one when I got back to my apartment and she would often stay awake until I didn’t check in with her that I am home.
So, calling my mom is always my first instinct.
Love,
Luna

So heartwarming to read about a loving relationship with a parent. She has done many things right, and so have you, Luna 🙂
