Life in The Mirror

It’s what’s behind
That living in the past
The future a shocking blind spot
Best to avoid
I drive looking in the mirror
To see that I was safe
A few moments ago
I don’t want to see
The coming crash
It’s easy once you get the hang of it
Easier still on roads that do not curve
On bends it’s the reverse action
It’s thrilling, an exciting way to drive
Particularly if the lights were red
I like the way smoking trails
Show the panic at intersections
My passengers scream a lot
But they soon leave
Me in my solitude
Looking in the mirror
