The Past

The past haunts my soul,
As memories foul
Rend my hopes of a fresh start,
I’m drunk with grief sheer
On losing those dear,
Memories poison my heart…

The past haunts my mind,
As past woes unwind,
Forgotten scars now leak blood,
The more I recount,
The less I sleep sound;
Long healed scars hemorrhage blood…

The past haunts my mind,
As past woes unwind,
Memories of bullying,
That left me aghast,
Wonder,if I’d last,
As sat alone,lamenting….

The past haunts my soul,
As memories foul
Of assaults,murders brutal
That I witnessed,
Crippled by sadness,
Past memories infernal.
