Quiet observer
Living safely on the sidelines,
taking in the experience from the screen
There are no risks, no motions,
no thinking.
It’s a backseat way of living.
And while you are in vicarious mode,
the years sneak up on you and
opportunities pass you by.
When you put your foot over the line
all what was supposed to be natural
feel like a burden.
Life doesn’t sweep you of your feet,
it shoots you in the legs.
Indeed, life is merciless.
Nice
Indeed I find it’s so easy to fall into “vicarious mode” and let others take the risks. You’ve nailed it in this poem.
