I have wanted to get a tattoo since I was a little girl and I had two in mind. One would be the lunar phases and eclipses (guess twice why) and the other I wanted to tattoo a phoenix carrying a compass in his beak on my back.
Why didn’t I get either? Firstly, I am a bit scared of needles as I already shared with you. Secondly, I have this dumb allergy to some compound that can be present in tattoo ink and it would be a bit unsafe for me to just go and get a tattoo. I found that out when I was about 16 and thank God I did because I was ready to get a tattoo at 18, even if my mother disowned me. She is a bit old-school when it comes to tattoos and piercings.
But a girl can still dream of her tattoos, right? The phoenix would have been magnificent, with the red and blue ink and with the compass in his beak. I wish I knew how to draw so I could make you a picture of my vision, but my art isn’t in drawing it’s in writing.
Do you have a tattoo? Do they hurt? I am very curious!
Love,
Luna

Sadly, I don’t have a tattoo but I will get one before I die — I’m 57. I used to want and English Rose but it’s too symbolic with (for me at least) the wrong things. What I’m likely to get is a zen circle on my wrist.
I have a dolphin tatoo on my left arm which I had done years ago. It was something I wanted for some years beforehand. Before I plucked up the courage. As I am not one for needles.
The only time it hurt during getting it done was when they were doing the mouth. But that was because I had tensed my arm without realising it. As soon as I relaxed, I was fine.
It hurt more after. But only because I had a shirt on. I took it off and wore my t-shirt as soon as I was home and then I was fine. Looking after my arm as directed by them over the next few days days or week.
