The wind blows where it wants
and the birds fly south
The snows come and go
The rain falls
The sun bathes us in its light
I adapt.
Through every cycle I find a way
One hand on my heart
One on my gut
Fear is here to be eaten
Anxiety to be hidden
Desires be damned
Do what needs to be done
Eyes wide open at all times
And if the night is in flames,
I will swallow the ash.
I will turn smoke into oxygen
My skin will resist the heat
because the wind blows where it wants
and the birds fly south
but I never knew what choice was
