What has gotten into me?

I don’t know what’s with me today. I have been dealing with a bit of insomnia lately and whenever that happens to me, I usually wake up between 2:30 – 3:00 AM and cannot fall asleep again. I have been really tired in the past few days, including today when I woke up at 3.

But I guess I have a spare generator of power because I couldn’t stop today. I did spend a bit more time in bed in the morning but once I was up, my body just shifted into 5th gear. On weekends I have my usual chores which are cleaning up, grocery shopping and meal-prepping and I divide them up between Saturday and Sunday.

Today I decided to do as much as I could. The apartment is clean, the laundry is done, grocery shopping done for the whole week and I left meal prepping for tomorrow but I managed to cook twice today and make some banana bread. I also ran 8km and prepared a new Youtube video (which takes time, trust me).

If I won’t be exhausted enough to sleep through the night, I give up.

I am going to munch on my banana bread now and watch something on Netflix.

Luna

  1. I’ll take the 2nd banana bread please.

  2. It sounds like stress. Stress makes the body release adrenaline and cortisol. Cortisol makes your sleeps less deep, which can lead to you waking up suddenly in the middle of the night. Can be other things though.

  3. Could definitely be stress as suggested elsewhere in the comments. When that hits me badly, I will sometimes take a small dose of melatonin from time to time. It’s just enough to take the edge off and let me get some decent sleep.

  4. I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night for so long i can’t remember a time when i didn’t. It has become normal for me. Long ago, i simply surrendered to the cycle, and discovered what i could do in the middle of the night that fit with my mental and physical reality. It became a good time to read and write, or to listen to something calming.. music or spoken word. It is kindof a part of my sleep / dream state when i am slightly more awake. Sometimes the gap is only a few minutes.. other times i am awake for an hour or more.. but regardless, when i crawl back to bed, i usually sleep another 2-3 hours and then wake for the day around sunrise. I’ve learned too, what not to do. Not to drink tea or coffee .. or too much liquid so that i wake before i’m ready with a full bladder.. and not to eat either. The body likes being on a schedule.. and sometimes, it tells us what that schedule is. We just have to listen. You are waking up for some good reason.. maybe because its uncomfortable.. urging you towards something undiscovered.

  5. I would also offer that if you can get a good dose of early morning sunshine .. that really helps to reset your sleep cycle

  6. Look at the spiritual connection to this
