What was the best compliment you’ve received?
Did you lose weight?
Is that a new dress?
Did you change your hair?
That makeup really looks great.
There’s no depth,
everything is skin level
we made surface the currency
no one dares to peel off the layers
of manufactured perfection.
Beauty is pain,
we were told to suffer
only to be called a nice little doll
that looks just like the others.
