#410 Cynical

Do you practice religion?

Too cynical for religion
Tears burned holes in my hands
I can’t hold on to anything.

I let these words into the world
because I convinced myself that art
should be shared
But sometimes I stand on my balcony
and in a fit of rage, smoke and despair
I throw these venom-infused pages
on the crowd to take it off my hands
Does that make me a killer?

When I couldn’t find a better altar
I discovered grief and pain
They provide endless inspiration
But never an ounce of rest.
