What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever found (and kept)?
To keep the whole is temporary
when one cannot surrender completely
but wisps of memory remain
I use them as thread to sew the blanket
under which I will rest
remembering that once I lived
when my memory begins to fail
Movie tickets, love letters, gifts,
pictures, books, clothes
The little things they left with me
They weren’t left behind, they were repurposed
Monuments to the human,
to the pure, unbridled need
to be loved and to experience eternity
only if in someone else’s mind.
