Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

You tried so hard not to disappoint everyone
that you ended up disappointing yourself.
You’ve never committed a crime but there’s
so much blood on your hands.

You are responsible for so many deaths because
everything you could be is slowly disappearing
into oblivion.

Everyone can see you,
But you don’t have the faintest idea who you are.
There are a thousand faces and personalities
you killed in order to turn yourself into a puzzle piece
that would perfectly fit into some narrative.

The prize was an empty cup,
a chalice that now gathers dust.
At the end of the tunnel, there was another one.
You never saw the light.

  1. This poem is lovely doesn’t seem like doom and gloom

  2. Maybe I don’t want your golf cup. I want mine!

  3. Beautiful… but so sad 😢

There’s an old song by Billy Joel you might like… speaks to the whole notion of pursuing your dreams… it’s called “James.”

    One stanza goes

    James…do you like your life,
    Can you find release,
    And will you ever change
Will you ever write your masterpiece.
    Are you still in school
    Living up to expectations…James…

    1. I will make sure to listen to the song now!

  4. Nice poem. You’re right. Everything ain’t always perfect.

  5. light to the dark

  6. So beautiful 👍. Success is to love yourself, love what you do and how you do it. Yes, You have to care for others, serve others, but in whatever you do never put any human above yourself, you deserve the love too.
