Poem #346

Do you crave me?
In the middle of the night,
when her breathing is too loud
and her skin doesn’t feel like mine
do you see me?
Do you imagine me instead
when all those empty hands you are running through
just don’t hold you the way I used to?

Does your body still remember me?
Do your hips burn with the desire
to have my legs wrapped around them?
When nothing is enough
and liquor is pouring like a fountain
when your conquests feel like a loss
do you think about me?

Does the guilt tear you apart
because you traded in something real
to stick to your old ways?
Do I still live in every corner of your apartment?
Can you hear my laugh echoing?
Is the memory haunting?
Am I torturing you in my absence
the way you tortured me in your presence?
