On middle names

Daily writing prompt
What is your middle name? Does it carry any special meaning/significance?

I don’t actually have a middle name. It’s not very common in the area where I live to give middle names to children, but I gave myself an artist name which I jammed between my name and surname when I published my books so I think that’s close enough to write something for this prompt.

Can you all guess what Luna means? Yes, it means the moon and, if I am not mistaken, in Roman mythology Luna was the goddess of the moon. I picked this name as my artist name when I was very young and it was my decision to use it because of it’s significance. I wrote a whole post explaining why I picked the name called The Story behind the name Luna so you can check that out, if you’d like.

Now I am interested, do you have middle names? Is it common in your country to give a middle name to a child?

Love,
Luna

  1. I don’t have a middle name either. I think it’s kind of classy! I made up for it with a pen name though. 🙂

    1. Pen name! Thank you! I couldn’t remember what it’s called so I just wrote “artist name” 😅

      1. If you’re feeling a bit elevated you could try ‘pseudonym.’ 🤣

  2. I have a middle name. I’m Kathryn Anne but I’ve mostly been just Kate. I would get the full name when in trouble.

    1. Oh, I always wanted to middle-name someone, I always thought it was funny when I saw it on TV shows!

      1. Really, it’s so commonplace around me and a way to compromise for parents who can’t agree I think 😊

  3. I have a middle name and it’s pretty common to give middle names. I regret giving my child a middle name though. Loved it at the time as it means story/fairytale but it’s just not her at all, just like I’m not my middle name much. I don’t even use my first name but a diminutive. Most of my friends gave their kids 3-4 names which I think is bonkers. A lot of them are awful, too. I’m not big on giving kids their grandparents’ names. Especially, when someone who had a pretty shitty relationship with a parent most of their lives, they then give their kid the parent’s name as a middle name. The hypocrisy. I don’t get it.
