Poem #382

She was perched up on the nightstand
every night.
I didn’t know there were three of us
because I wasn’t the one who welcomed
her ghost into our life.

I don’t want the discarded remains
of your affection after you’ve given
all you could to her.
Run after her, kiss her feet,
prostrate yourself on the ground
so she can walk all over you
but don’t do it in your mind,
from my bed
while you eat the food I made,
breathe in the same air
stay warm next to the body you don’t want

I’ve given you an arm and a leg
and you chewed the other two off as well
in your desperate pursuit of a woman
who treats you like a trinket.

Go and be a decoration for her
yearn for her
kill for her
destroy yourself for her
Nothing better than high levels of personal humiliation
can be expected from a man
who primarily hates himself.

Don’t forget that my first novel is available on Amazon: Little Rebellion
Also you can get my poetry books: Rehab and Identity crisis
