Poem #341

I love this fire.
The heat is exciting.
Standing in the flames doesn’t burn
it provokes you to stay there longer.

We communicate without exchanging a word
Our eyes meet across the room
An exchanged smile, an accidental touch
It all seems so innocent
Your body is inviting me to sin

But I never cave in
I never cross that line
I burn alone in the middle of the night
This self-control is masochistic
The thought I could have you
but choose not to
is keeping me alive

We are constantly going in for a kiss
but our lips never meet
I love this fire
Pure desire
