Poem #385

The dragons I’ve tamed…

There was the one who circled my bed
every evening when I wanted to rest
His trick was to get inside my head
He would slam his tail against my headboard
and rattle me out of rest.

Another one followed me around the street
he carefully avoided the passersby
while he whispered in my ear
how much better everyone was than me

One guarded my mirrors
only moved his heavy lids to open
his judgmental eyes whenever I stepped near
In the puffs of smoke coming from his nose
something became distorted in the reflection

There were big and small,
red and green
some followed me since birth
others hatched during the years
I can still feel their hot breath
whenever my mind takes the best of me.

Don’t forget that my first novel is available on Amazon: Little Rebellion
Also you can get my poetry books: Rehab and Identity crisis

  1. Brilliant. Can really visualise this poem. So descriptive. 💚
