Poem #393

I left without a tear because by the time
It was over, you drained the love out of me
It wasn’t one big disappointment
You didn’t shoot my feelings in the foot
It was years of small things
They piled up on my back
My body had a limit after which
it couldn’t carry the burden
Walking out that door made me lose it
I felt light
Life was effortless
Air wasn’t hard to find
Although I miss you
I question my decision
I reach for your side of the bed in the middle of the night
I would never go back.
