Something was always rotten
on the inside.
I carried it around like it didn’t
create a stench only I could sense
I learned to masquerade it well
with perfumes, lies and incense
It was filthy and vile and
so embarrassing
Incompatible with life but I learned
to live with it.
Now it’s not just a part of me
It’s the other side of me
The one lurking in the shadow
A monster only I can see.

Uncomfortable. 🙁
I’ve felt this uncomfortable space. I love this piece 🧩🤩
very powerful short prose, thanks for sharing.
I remember feeling that way. Now I’m trying to bring my shadow into the light.
