Poem #260

I gave everything I had left in me
I was just a spark and you could start a forest fire.

We both knew it wouldn’t last.

We were the definition of “love isn’t enough”
and we didn’t give up until it broke us.

We both knew it wouldn’t last but we
got addicted to playing games with luck.

Both experts in our own misery
without an ounce of belief in a happy ending.

We both knew it wouldn’t last but we
got addicted to playing games with luck
and now we ran out of it.

A game of Russian roulette gone bad.
Both of us ended with a bullet in our heart.

  1. “Both of us ended with a bullet in our heart” Can totally feel the pain… Such beautiful lines. Loved this poem so much! 🙂

  2. The “Russian roulette” was a nice touch, Luna.
